  1. Blogs are great for students and others to express themselves and their feelings on certain topics. A good way to use them is to have a weekly blog and let them use it as a tool of discussion. Teachers can check to see which students have responded and posted and that might be part of a participation grade. It would be easy to monitor and keep the students involved in whatever the topics of the week were. Many colleges and professors use blogs as an assessment tool. Coming to a high school near you!!!

  2. Your blog is the first I have participated in. I can see uses for quick and documented discussion. I enjoy reading comments that others have made since their perspectives are so different from mine being in differing educational settings and teaching different subjects. I will not use them with my students since their reading and writing skills are limited. It would be a great way to do our Assistive Tecnology Meetings since attendance is low but topics are very interesting.

  3. I liked the blogging and IMing we did when I got my masters online. I think blogging has many uses, especially for education over the Internet. Someday, all the kids will have computers and Internet access, and I can require blog responses. I do not know how well that would work now unless I took the kids to the tech. center. My ‘computer as a writing tool kids’ use google’s buzz to check in with what’s going on and post thoughts like they would on myspace or facebook. It gives me a chance to comment back to them too. I wish I could get them to do less IMing…lol.

  4. I see many quality uses for a blog in a classroom. I have participated in many classroom blogs for discussion. At my school we use Blackboard. During my student book club, I offer students the option to respond to their readings through the Bb blog. Recently, I taught a lesson on blogging with a group of struggling readers. They are using TweenTribune to respond to news stories. We discussed blogging etiquette.
