Show me your wiki??? I hardly know you!
In our program on wiki’s online collaboration made easy we took a closer look at Wikispaces, PB Works and Google Sites. We discussed the setting, shared how to edit pages and embedding content into your pages. Our question for this week is how can you use a wiki in your classroom?

The Wiki presentation opened my eyes to another realm of collaboration on education issues. The resource sharing and project based learning capability are especially important to teachers in this technology-centered field. I intend to become more familiar with Wiki.
I am still a little foggy on Wikis but the collaboration aspect of them is extremely appealing to me. I am trying to find a way to do a legislative bill writing unit that goes along with the Congress. A wiki may provide my class with an opportunity to develop their own bills and ideas and then other “legislators” could help to edit, add, or delete things in the bill that they do not agree with. I think this may be a possibility that I look at for next year’s activity.
When I was involved in developing a for a local early childhood association where I was an officer this would have been amazing. Todd’s ideas about writing a bill sound exciting. I think curriculum development could also be much simpler.
I left out a word When I was involved in developing a mission statement……. Sorry.
A computer lab was recently created at our elementary school. In order to help teachers’ access websites to use with students I created a Wiki. It was incredibly easy! As teachers submit websites, I add them to our Wiki. It allows reluctant teachers to easily access websites. I plan to create a standards based Wiki for my team over the summer. All the sites that we use over the school year will be housed on one Wiki. I would also like to create a Wiki webpage for my class where I can keep parents informed and post homework and newsletters. Possibilities are endless!
I foresee using wikis for student writing. I plan on sharing how wikis can be used in collaborating and editing student writing with our English department. I think that they will enjoy the collaborative aspect of peer-editing that students can acheive through wikis.
I would like to create a classroom website and include a Wiki. This would allow students and parents access to some extended information of the projects or artist we are studying in class.
